Bill
is a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, Iowa. Bill has experimented
with many different farming techniques. He ridge-tills his corn and
soybeans, uses a GPS yield monitor and uses the spring nitrate soil
tests. He has raised some food soybeans and has spent time studying
value-added opportunities and value-added organizations.
Bill graduated
from Iowa State University in 1981, with a B.S. in Agricultural
Business. He has been involved with many volunteer organizations,
including Farm Bureau and the Iowa and National Corn Growers
Association. Bill served as the President of the Iowa Corn
Growers Association in 1990 and President of the National Corn
Growers Association in 1995-96. He was appointed to the 11member
Commission for 21st Century Production Agriculture in 1997.
The Commission recommended policy to be included in the 2002
Farm Bill in January, 2001.
